On Earth As It Is In Heaven: A bible study on the Lord’s Prayer
When we pray “Our Father,” we are invited into the life of the Triune God of the universe, to share and partake of that life in our lives as we have them now. In this essential prayer, Jesus, invites us into his understanding and experience of the Father.

You'll hear from our clergy and some staff helping co-teach each session. There will also be time for breakout groups for discussion. You'll need to register to attend. Part of the reason for this is that each background-checked and trained adult will be invited to serve one week in one of the kid's classes during these sessions. Don't worry, each session will be recorded and available for the weeks you miss. These topics will be age-appropriate for high school students and adults, but if you have any concerns, don't hesitate to contact Fr. Shawn.
Week 1 - Your Church History
A brief look at church history to help locate you in the story of the people of God. Where did my Christian heritage come from, and how does that map onto the story of our parish?
Week 2 - Prayer Book 101
An Introduction to Anglican spirituality through the prayer book. How do I use this thing, and what about it shapes my spiritual life?
Week 3 - How to Understand the Bible
A look at the basics of interpreting and applying Holy Scripture. The Bible can be a strange book to read at times. What are the ways that we can faithfully discern its meaning for our lives today?
Week 4 - Reconsidering Sex*
Taking a closer look at what the Bible has to say about sexuality. We've all been told many things about sex, identity, and sin. How can we begin to find life-giving answers from Scripture?
Week 5 - A Kingdom View of Sex*
We'll look at Jesus for a vision of what our bodies are for, his vision for community, singleness & marriage. We'll also consider how we can live generously and faithfully with others.
*We realize that these topics may feel unsafe to some. Our premise is that everyone is made in the image of God, is his beloved child, and is welcomed in the church regardless of their sexual orientation. Our community is a safe place to discuss, study, and discern these topics while safeguarding the dignity of every human being, especially those who have experienced hurt. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please feel free to contact Fr. Shawn.
