Palm Sunday Service

Sunday, 3/13 at 10 AM

At the beginning of Holy Week, we commemorating Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem before his death and resurrection. Palm Sunday is a reminder that all that is to come in Holy Week is a reminder that Christ is King, as the prophets declared centuries earlier: “Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey.” (Zechariah 9:9) We will be waving palm branches as we process and declare “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”

Maundy Thursday

Thursday, 3/17 at 6:30 PM

Maundy Thursday marks the beginning of the Paschal Triduum— one service that commemorates the three days of Jesus’ “passover” into death and back to life. Two events mark Maundy Thursday: Jesus washed his disciples’ feet and gave them a new commandment: to love one another as he has loved them. And Jesus institute the Lord’s Supper as he shared a meal with his disciples. For our service, there will be a foot washing service, a celebration of the Eucharist together, and at the end, we strip the altar and leave in silence in anticipation of the events to come the next day.

Good Friday

Friday, 3/18 at 6:30 PM

“We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, because by your holy Cross you have redeemed the world.” On Good Friday, we take time to meditate on the Passion and Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. We hear the Passion account from the Gospels, we pray for the church and world for whom Christ died, and we process forward to reverence the cross, contemplating the mystery of our salvation in the work of Jesus on his holy cross. We both enter and leave the service in silence to reflect the solemnity of the day.

Easter Vigil

Saturday, 3/19 at 8 PM

The “Great Vigil of Easter” is an ancient tradition that we are bringing to Rez this year. Starting sometime after “sundown” (in our case, 8 PM), we hold vigil as we light the Easter fire and process in candlelight, as we remember the story of God in the Old Testament, and as we welcome in and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the grave. Considered the first Easter service of the season, it is a beautiful service that moves from solemnity to joy.

Easter Sunday

Sunday, 3/20 at 10 AM

On Easter Sunday, we celebrate (outside, in our courtyard!) Jesus’ resurrection and God’s triumph over the powers of sin and death. It is highlight of our church year and our namesake, so we go all out with bells, baptisms, hallelujahs and more!

After the service, join us for a huge party and potluck as we continue the fiesta! We will have plenty of food and drinks, an Easter egg hunt and piñatas, and plenty more for the whole family to enjoy.

Holy Week Family Guide

We have purchased a family guide for Holy Week created by @littlewaychapel. For each day of Holy Week the guide includes the following:

  • An overview of each day and its significance, a liturgy, lesson, and activity for each day of Holy Week

  • Recipes and traditional Holy Week treats

  • Worksheets and coloring pages.

Please let Melissa Gray know if you would like a printed guide.  You can download a digital version here.

Interested in Baptism?

We will be celebrating baptisms on Easter Sunday! Baptism is how we enter the household of God, by being washed of sin, and immersed into the death and resurrection of Jesus. If you or someone in your family is interested in receiving the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, please let us know so that we can talk with you and make arrangements for our Easter service.

Easter Serving and Potluck Sign-up

After our Easter Service, we'll be having our annual potluck and party. Rez will provide the main course (grilled chicken from El Pollo Rico and pizza for kids) and drinks. We're asking everyone to bring a side and/or dessert (enough for 12 people). We also need help with setup, serving and cleanup. Sign up to serve as we welcome our friends and neighbors to celebrate with us! Sign up for the potluck is coming soon!
