Response to the Coronavirus
Updated March 11, 2020
With the recent outbreak of the Coronavirus here in the United States, we are taking steps for prevention in our church. We wanted to highlight some of the measures we are taking, and are inviting you to join us so we can all do our part for prevention.
In the Service:
All of our Eucharistic ministers will be washing their hands with hand sanitizer just prior to serving communion.
We will be receiving only the bread at Holy Eucharist: This is called receiving in “one kind” (rather than both kinds of bread and wine), and is a full reception of Christ’s real presence.
Passing the Peace: I know we love a big hug or handshake, but we recommend avoiding hand-contact peace-sign at the passing of the Peace.
We will be providing hand sanitizers and facial tissue at the entrance of the sanctuary. We encourage you to use both as frequently as you are able, particularly before receiving Eucharist.
Family Ministry:
Family ministry regularly disinfects rooms and materials (including Seedlings toys and play mats) before and after class each week.
All of our leaders serving in the children's rooms will be required to wash their hands thoroughly before their classes.
All kids also sanitize hands immediately before snack in all classes weekly.
Table Groups:
We are asking all table groups to be mindful of practices that will aid prevention as well. This includes: hand-washing for those who are preparing food, frequent use of hand sanitizer and facial tissue, and care with children's interactions with one another.
When to Stay Home:
We ask those with symptoms of a fever, cough, or respiratory issues to stay home and rest up. We feel these steps are helpful in preventing the spread of the virus and keeping our folks safe, especially our elderly and those in weak health. We have a high value for your safety and appreciate your help in creating a safe space for everyone.
Let’s continue to pray for those who are sick, those providing care, those who suffer, and those worried.
